“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flows the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)

Springs of life – I know that’s what we want to be carrying and aren’t people looking for something that is real, life-giving, renewing and strengthening?

The bible says that in order to have “springs of life” you have to watch over your heart. In other words, keep track of yourself. Jesus said, “It’s not what goes into a man’s mouth that makes him unclean but it’s what comes out of his mouth that what makes him unclean.” The point being, that the stream doesn’t get polluted from the outside, it gets polluted from the inside. So what your mind focuses on is what your emotions will follow and what your emotions follow is what will influence you to take action. What you look at, what you say, what you think about, those are your keys to a clean, vibrant, thriving stream of life or a weighed-down unpleasant waterway.

Let’s ask the Lord to help us with this, “Jesus, we want to have a stream of living water flowing through our lives to others and all the people that we meet throughout the day. We are asking for Your divine help. Lord Jesus, help us to flee from temptation, help us to take thoughts captive. Fill us as we worship and praise You and read Your Word with quickenings of things that are good and true and honest and lovely. We ask for Your light and Your power and Your breath within us to work a place of victory so that we can truly say that from our inmost beings flow rivers of living water. We thank You, Emmanuel, that you are not only with us but that You are for us and that You will help us to get the victory. In Your holy name, Jesus. Amen.

“Jesus said, ‘He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:38)
