Peacemaker Tools

Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.” -Matthew 5:9
Today’s Word:
Mary was sitting in her house when a terrible fight broke out next door. Screaming and cursing were could be heard through the windows, and it seemed that someone would be killed. Suddenly, she jumped up with her bible and a basket of bread and headed toward her door. Her children grabbed her scarf crying, “Mommy, mommy please don’t go. They will hurt you.”  With strength in her heart, she said, “Children I will be okay, because Jesus is with me. Let me go and see if I can do some good.”
With the loud shouts inside rattling the walls, Mary knocked on the door. Silence fell and the door flew open. There stood two brothers streaked with blood and steaming with anger. “I came to see if I can be of any help to you. Please let me help you if I can.” No one could believe that she stood there at the door. Slowly weapons were lowered, and a gun was put away. “Come in Mary. We are so surprised you came.” The brothers were seconds away from murdering each other, but because one of God’s peacemakers showed kindness, that act of love turned death away from a neighbor’s door.
The Peacemaker and You
Being a peacemaker does not always require you to risk your life. However, if you are willing, the Lord will use you in many ways to express His love in moments of tension and need. Sometimes even a silent prayer is all that is required. Jesus is our Prince of Peace, and it is His joy to release His peace and Presence through us. As his disciples,“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)
In the following days, we’ll discuss practical outlines, “Peacemaker Tools,” designed to assist you in personal forgiveness and conflict resolution.
Scripture:
“Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy.” -Proverbs 12:20
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” -John 14:26-27
“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.  If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” -Romans 12:17-18
