A Prayer for When the Days Become Shorter

The dog days of summer are long over. The last few weeks have likely involved becoming familiar with routines of school, work, and other general life responsibilities. While summer often brings promises of vacations and long evenings to relax, we can find ourselves exhausted by the need to “take advantage” of the season, trying to fit in ALL the things before it leaves just as quickly as it began. 

Yet, when fall comes around and we get settled into our rhythms of life, our routines might begin to feel like an opportunity to pause for a breath. When the days get shorter, forcing us indoors or around a bonfire, we might discover the change has been one that allows us to slow down and better listen for the ways God is speaking into our lives. 

And we can be thankful that, even through all of our seasons of change, God remains the same.
