Lamb of God
As a yearly remembrance of the Passover, Jewish tradition required each family to sacrifice a year-old male lamb that was free from defect. Once the lamb was inspected and found to be without flaw, it was slaughtered to remove the sins of the family
for that year. This annual ritual served as a divine foreshadowing of the ultimate sacrifice to come.
In a collision of love and justice, the final sacrifice for sin was offered: Jesus Christ, the perfect Lamb of God. He was inspected by the Father and found to be without defect. His innocent blood, shed on a cross, removed the sin of the world—not just for one year, but for all time!
Look to Jesus—though He was slaughtered, He overcame death and is alive. When you approach God, you are not being inspected according to what you have done, but according to the sacrifice of the perfect Lamb of God. Jesus is enough for every person, problem, and sin. As you accept this revolutionary news in your life, share it with others: His sacrifice is enough to set us free and take away the sins of the world!
