In the gospel text for Sunday many people take offense at Jesus’ invitation to eat his flesh and drink his blood; even many of Jesus’ disciples peel off. This is the backdrop in John’s gospel for Peter’s confession of faith. “To whom can we go?” asks Peter, in words we sometimes sing just before the gospel is read. “You have the words of eternal life.” In order to take such a stand, as Peter and Joshua did, Paul tells us to arm ourselves with the word of God. We pray in the Spirit that we might be bold ambassadors of the gospel.

SCRIPTURE:
Joshua 24:1-2a, 14-18
Psalm 34:15-22
Ephesians 6:10-20,
John 6:56-69

Read the July Church Board Meeting Minutes Here!
July was a good month.  We were able to meet regular giving numbers and continue to reduce expenses.  Regular giving was $11,286 actual vs a $10,917 budget for a SURPLUS of approximately $369. Our regular giving for the year is only down slightly over $2,000. Hopefully we can make this up in the fall. Never the less, our expenses have been controlled so well that we continue to operate in the black

The Coffee Shop has also been slow over the summer and hopefully will pick back up, once temperatures aren't so hot!  The Station continues to operate in the black but we are looking forward to the end of the hot summer and sales increasing to normal levels.
