Hurricane Helene Leaves Trail of Devastation
Dear Friend,
Hurricane Helene hit Florida with 140-mph gusts last night, the strongest recorded storm to ever hit the Big Bend region. Communities are struggling with massive storm surge, heavy rains and flooding, and wind damage.
Though now a tropical storm, Helene continues to wreak havoc as it blows through Georgia and the Carolinas. Historic rainfall is flooding areas in the southern Appalachians. Nearly two dozen people have lost their lives so far.
GiveSamaritan's Purse staff members are on their way to hard-hit areas and can respond at multiple sites as we continue to track the ongoing damage. Soon we will need many volunteers as we partner with churches to help the hurting in Jesus' Name.
Please keep the millions of people affected by this massive storm in your prayers. Please pray for us as we respond and bring the hope and comfort that only the Lord Jesus Christ can offer.
Sincerely,
Franklin Graham
President, Samaritan's Purse
