Remember the Needy

God spoke, and out of nothing, the wonders of the heavens and earth danced gloriously into existence. From the dust of this earth, the most precious of all creation was made: humanity. In a declaration of identity, the Godhead announced, “Let us make mankind in our image” (Genesis 1:26). So God formed a human body from the dust of the ground and breathed into Adam the breath of life.

All humans, without trying, are the very reflection of their Maker. The rich and the poor alike are a mirror of the beauty and creativity of God. If you oppress, neglect, or mistreat the poor, you dishonor and insult God, their Maker. However, if you are kind to them, you honor and obey God.

Honor the poor. Take care of their needs. Look past the problems and the need and see the prized creation of the God of heaven staring back at you. Love them, and you love God’s chosen. Honor them, and you honor God’s image.
