Hurricane Melissa Batters Jamaica, Airlifts Bringing Urgent Help
Dear Friend,
Hurricane Melissa pummeled Jamaica yesterday as a monstrous Category 5 storm with 185-mph winds. Torrential rain—measured in feet not inches—and a massive storm surge inundated some areas. Flooding and landslides have hit the mountainous interior. We know houses, businesses, schools, and hospitals have been badly damaged. Roads and bridges are out.
Give NowOur 757 and DC-8 cargo planes will be bringing in tons of critical relief supplies—heavy-duty tarps, solar lights, hygiene kits, and water filtration systems, each with the capacity to serve up to 10,000 people a day. Our medical teams will soon be on the ground providing emergency care to victims of the storm.

This historic hurricane will likely leave its mark on Jamaica for years to come. Please keep all those affected by the storm in your prayers, and also our team as they respond in Jesus' Name to bring physical relief and the hope of the Gospel to those who are hurting. “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27).
Sincerely,
Franklin Graham
President, Samaritan's Purse
