The Meaning of Love Written by Liliana Arratia Zamora It’s typical to base love on feelings in the moment or to make love conditional based on what someone can do for you. It’s common to throw the word “love” around with little weight and commitment tied to it. The love described in 1 John isn’t found within a one-night stand or constant arguing. Love doesn’t insult with the intent to hurt or take advantage of someone. Love was meant to be goodness willed with truth and compassion for the other person. Love shouldn’t be based on fear of what others would think. Love doesn’t seek to punish us or make us pay. Love should add joy to one’s soul and be a selfless act. If we were to put the world’s expectations aside and reflect upon the One who loved first, our view of love would be completely transformed and renewed. We could realize that love is a constant choice lined with grace and mercy— just like the love shown by Jesus. Perfect love is the opposite of fear and selfishness.

Do you know what I would really like to have?
Okay, I’m not going to say: “A big designer handbag, a luxury watch, or a vacation in the Maldives.”
Although… I probably wouldn’t turn down that vacation either, haha.
But what I would really love is TIME. More time.
And when I see people on the weekend taking a relaxed day trip or simply sitting together and enjoying life, I have to admit… I sometimes feel a little jealous.
I’ll be honest about that.
Can you relate to that somehow?
You have what you always dreamed of — and yet, something still feels missing.
You have something beautiful — and yet, you notice what others have.
You are actually grateful — and yet, you still feel restless.
And then this thought quietly creeps in: “If I only had THAT too, THEN I would finally be satisfied.”
Careful… the Bible is about to challenge us here ðŸ¤:
“You must not covet your neighbor’s house. You must not covet your neighbor’s wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor” (Exodus 20:17).
This commandment is different from the others in some ways.
It does not focus on what you do. It focuses on what you desire inside.
Your wishes. Your comparisons. Your longings.
And that is exactly why it may speak to us today more than ever.
We live in a world where you constantly see how other people’s lives appear better. Their relationships seem happier. Their bodies look better. Their success seems greater.
And without even realizing it, your heart begins to compare.
And comparison has an effect: It steals your joy for what you already have.
Careful — Paul challenges us today too 😉. He said:
“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances” (Philippians 4:11 NIV).
Learned.
That means contentment does not always come naturally. It is a choice. A practice.
If you are always looking at what you are missing, you will overlook what you already have.
Today, pay attention to the moments when you find yourself comparing. Then, pause for a moment, and name the things you are grateful for right now.
Comparison steals your peace, gratitude brings it back.

Limitless Riches
Writing from prison to the believers in Philippi, the apostle Paul divulged that he’d learned the secret to being content no matter the situation.
Because of the faithfulness of God and the generosity of the Philippians, Paul’s needs had been met—even while in jail. He went on to say:
“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

What an incredible perspective from captivity—where Paul was placed for spreading the truth about Jesus.
God had given Paul peace, his friends had sent supplies, and Paul’s joy was unapologetically obvious—despite his imperfect circumstances.
Paul knew that the same God who was taking care of Him would also take care of his friends. He knew that—because Jesus had already made a way—they could access the storehouses of heaven. He knew that—because of God’s generous character—they were covered in His grace.
Have you ever considered what a treasure trove of riches God has? And it’s not just what He has, but also who He is. God’s glorious riches, never-ending resources, and both visible and invisible qualities are limitless, bottomless, boundless, and inexhaustible.
Think about that for a moment.
The amazing thing is: He’s granted us access.
In His kindness, God fashioned raspberries and puppies. In His brilliance, He crafted the human eye and hung the earth on nothing. By His creativity, He made hammerhead sharks and sparkling fireflies. By His power, He designed galaxies that even the smartest of scientists are just now discovering.
The same God who cares for His creation will also provide for you.
When we become His children, we are given the key to eternal riches, to incorruptible goods, and to traits of His Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Do you need peace? You have a God who brings peace. Do you need provision? You have a God who offers provision. Do you need rest? You have a God who extends rest.
The ways in which God shows up are literally countless, and it’s all because of His gloriously limitless riches.
