Loving God’s Word

Loving God’s Word When we want to learn a new skill, we try to absorb everything we can about that subject. Artists use different supplies and techniques to enhance their art. Musicians practice their music measure by measure, note by note, in order to memorize and perfect the song they are learning. Architects and engineers utilize advanced math in order to design and build safe structures. We give our time and minds to various endeavors—so that we can use them well. King David wanted to know God. And he knew that in order to truly know God, he would need to know God’s Word. He wrote: "I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:11 ESV And... “I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.” Psalm 119:15 ESV This is a valuable lesson for us to learn as well—if we want to know God, to know Jesus, then we need to know God’s Word.  Just as we give our minds to the study of history or math, or we practice an instrument in order to play it well, we must also give our minds and time to studying God’s Word. We should meditate on Scripture and fix our eyes on what Jesus has taught us. When we do this, we store up His wonderful Word in our hearts and it keeps us from sinning against Him.  We can know exactly what God wants and desires for us by reading Scripture.  His Word gives us boundaries, guidance, and direction. His Word shows His purposes and character. His Word reveals to us who He is, and we get to respond with joy and obedience. So today, what will you give your time to? In what ways will you store up God’s Word in your heart?

A Prayer for Thrifting

A Prayer for Thrifting There’s something special about the thrill of the hunt—sifting through racks of clothes, shelves of trinkets, and stacks of old books in search of a find that feels just right. Thrifting reminds us that beauty doesn’t have to be brand-new. Worn-out and secondhand things still have worth, and items once discarded can find new life. It’s a reflection of how God sees us. Not for our flaws or what’s been worn down, but for the stories we carry and the purpose we still have. Here’s a scripture and a prayer to bring gratitude and joy into your thrifting adventure.

Greater Than Your Failure… ❤️

Greater Than Your Failure… ❤️ Sometimes I get really frustrated with myself. I can spend all day sitting in front of my five open Bibles, writing texts, sermons, worship songs… and then in the evening, I suddenly say things or act in ways I simply shouldn’t. Yes, it happens to me. 😔 Does it happen to you too? We’re all human, just like Jacob was human. He was even someone chosen by God! (See Genesis 25:23) What I find comforting is this: God chose Jacob before Jacob had learned how to live as someone who was chosen. When you read Jacob’s story, you won’t find a perfect example of faith. You’ll see a man who manipulates, deceives, takes matters into his own hands, and even tries to secure a blessing that God had already promised him. God knew it would turn out this way—and He chose him anyway! God also knew that YOU would do things you’d rather no one ever found out about—and He still invites you into His plan. 😮 God chooses people before they have learned how to live as those who are chosen. The undeserved grace of God that meets us along our journey is the reason we’re allowed to keep going… ❤️ Grace means this—listen closely: “He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalms 103:10-12), shall we pray? “Jesus, that was wrong. Please forgive me. Thank you that Your grace is greater than my failure. Help me to live today as the person You have called me to be. Amen.” You are a miracle! Déborah Rosenkranz
