True Vine

Intro:

Jesus called Himself the True Vine and His followers the branches. In this analogy Jesus reveals the secret to fruit-bearing, a close dependent relationship with Him. Let’s look at these Bible verses and draw closer to Jesus.

Prayer:

Jesus, You are the source of all good things. You are my portion, my strength and my shield. I rejoice in Your goodness. I humble myself and agree with Your Word that says, ‘apart from You, I can do nothing.’ Lord keep me from the deception of thinking I can do so much for You without first coming and drinking deep from Your living waters .
Teach me in a new way to receive from You and to cling to You, even as a branch clings to the vine. I want to move when You move and be still when You are still. Like a vine and a branch that move together, I long for this sort of closeness with You Jesus. Truly the fruit from this kind of union will be sweet. Help me True Vine, to stay near to You.

Scripture:

John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine dresser.”

Psalms 28:7 “The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.”
John 15:4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither [can] you, unless you abide in Me.”

Lamentations 3:24 “‘The LORD is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I have hope in Him.'”

John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.”
