Holiness

Holiness is God’s will for you. “For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in holiness.” -1 Thessalonians.4:7 If you want your life to make a difference you must receive the purifying work of His Spirit. Holiness is not a strict set of do’s and don’ts, holiness is a heart that completely belongs to Him. You cannot make yourself holy, only the Lord can as you yield to His Spirit. Set yourself apart for Him.

Prayer:
Lord, I want to be set apart for You. To be devoted to You and not to the perishing things of this world. Truly You are worthy of my complete devotion. Your word says to, “put aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles.” Jesus I place my burdens and sins at Your feet. (tell Jesus one by one the specific things you are laying down before Him)

I ask that You would do a mighty work in my heart. There are times when I feel my sin has tangled me like a vine around my legs. I give You permission right now to cut this tangle away and set me free. Lord keep me from being a hypocrite that says one thing but then practices another. Please, “discipline me for my good, that I might share in Your holiness.” Let Your Word, “holy unto the Lord”, be the banner over my life. Father, I commit myself, “as a slave to righteousness”, and receive Your Holy Spirit as my helper.

I thank You that You have granted to me everything I need to walk in godliness. My heart rejoices because He Who began a good work in me will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

Scripture:
Romans 6:22 “But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.”

Hebrews 12:5 “My son do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by Him; It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom [his] father does not discipline?”

Ephesians 4:24 “And put on the new self, which in [the likeness of] God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.”

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation a people for [God’s] own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light…”
