“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” –John 10:27

The word for today is: listen. In the Hindi language, listen is “sunanā.” Its means a “pulling towards.” The words listen and hear are really different. For instance, isn’t it possible to be hearing someone, but not really listening to them? If that person is perceptive enough, then they might look at you and say, “Hey, look at me!”
Perhaps you’ve got life on cruise control, and you’re hearing but not listening. You ask questions, but you’re not really looking at God 100%. You’re distracted, looking to other things, people, and circumstances. Listening is not just about hearing, it’s about giving someone your attention. It’s about where you’re looking, purposefully shutting down distractions, and it’s about wholehearted desire.
God is saying, “Give me your attention! Draw near to Me. Stop only hearing and start listening!”

Scripture:

“I will listen to what God the LORD says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants…” -Psalm 85:8
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” -Matthew 17:5
“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” -James 1:19

“Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.” -Luke 8:18
