“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” –John 10:27

The word for today is: listen. In the Hindi language, listen is “sunanā.” Its means a “pulling towards.” The words listen and hear are really different. For instance, isn’t it possible to be hearing someone, but not really listening to them? If that person is perceptive enough, then they might look at you and say, “Hey, look at me!”

Perhaps you’ve got life on cruise control, and you’re hearing but not listening. You ask questions, but you’re not really looking at God 100%. You’re distracted, looking to other things, people, and circumstances. Listening is not just about hearing, it’s about giving someone your attention. It’s about where you’re looking, purposefully shutting down distractions, and it’s about wholehearted desire.

God is saying, “Give me your attention! Draw near to Me. Stop only hearing and start listening!”
