Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.– Romans 12:9 (NIV)

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
– Romans 12:9 (NIV)
Today’s commentary

Let’s face it—the reason that we sin is because we like it. If you hate liver you will have no problems with the temptation to eat it. In a similar way, it is only when we hate evil that we will be able to fight against it. But how do we learn to hate evil? By clinging to what is good. When we are checking our motives and clinging to what is good, temptation loses its grip upon us, because we are cultivating a distaste for it. We must be proactive toward what is good if we want to display a sincere love.
