This Psalm deals with the feeling that God is not listening to the cries of injustice—that He is not present. The brutal honesty of this Psalm takes us on a journey with someone who is overwhelmed by the wickedness around him, yet when he turns back to the Lord he sees things in a different light. It is very easy to lose perspective, but the Psalmist reminds us that God does see—He is active upon this earth—and even though we may feel like victims, help is ready for those who reach out for it.
