So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. – Romans 7:4 (NIV)

Paul was not telling the Christians in Rome that dying to the law was throwing off restraint. Instead, leaving the laws of Moses meant coming under another Master, Jesus Christ. How do we know the difference between someone who just avoids the requirements of the law vs. someone who belongs to Christ? By the fruit that they bear in their life. The law leads us to Jesus, and Jesus changes our heart so that we fulfill the law with joy and not obligation.
