Proverbs 30:8-9 – Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches

Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

Are we satisfied with what we have? We are bombarded with messages that we need more things, better clothes, or fresher skin. Yet the Psalmist asks God for daily provision and nothing more. The Biblical narrative tells us that too much or too little causes us to stumble, and our quest for more leads us into dysfunction.
