Experience a Lenten Journey to Easter!

Dear Friends,
One of my favorite places to visit in Israel is the Mount of Transfiguration, where Jesus face "shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light" (Matthew 17:2) as he was transfigured before Peter, James, and John. This supernatural encounter which included a visit from Moses and Elijah dazzled the eyes of these disciples with the blinding uncreated light of Almighty God, can be applied to what happens when we present our bodies as "living sacrifices to God which is our spiritual service of worship". When we do this, we are transformed (transfigured) by the renewing of our minds so that we might "prove that which is that good, acceptable and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:1-2).
This Sunday, we'll be exploring the relationship of the New Covenant to the transfiguration of our lives, which impacts our marriage and family relationships, careers, worldview, and much more! Come ready to present your body as a living sacrifice to our great God, which is y(our) spiritual service of worship!
On Tuesday, we'll be joining our friends at Church of the Holy Spirit in Leesburg for a Fat Tuesday (a.k.a. Shrove Tuesday) celebration with plenty of delicious pancakes, maple syrup, sausage, bacon, egg dishes, and a Variety Show.
On Wednesday, our Lenten Journey to Easter will begin with an Ash Wednesday Service (see info below for both of these gatherings). May God's most abundant blessings be upon you and your family as we prepare to journey through this Lenten season!
Your servant in Christ,
The Rev. Dean F. Schultz - Christ the Redeemer Church in Springfield, VA
