2 Corinthians 4:7-9 – But we have this treasure in jars of clay

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
– 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 (NIV)

The apostle Paul gives us the secret of how he could endure overwhelming circumstances that should have ruined his life—Paul focused upon God’s power and not his faults. Instead of getting self-absorbed in what was wrong, Paul kept his thoughts upon the God who could uphold him in the midst of any situation. This posture kept Paul from being crushed when he was hard pressed, and it can help us as well.
