He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
– Ephesians 2:17-18 (NIV)

Paul is making his case for the Gentiles and Jews to go beyond the racism of their day to work together for the good of the gospel. These are challenging words for us today as well, for Sunday morning services can be the most segregated moment of the week. But Christ preached to those who were near (the Jews) and those who were far away (the Gentiles) and He still goes beyond social boundaries to give us access to God the Father by the Holy Spirit. If we want to be led by the Spirit, what boundaries have we set up that need to be brought down to the glory of God?
