Trusting God's steadfast love...
"But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence."
Cornelia "Corrie" ten Boom (1892-1983) was a Dutch Christian whose family members helped many Jews escape the Nazi Holocaust during World War II, eventually leading to her imprisonment in a concentration camp where many of her family members perished.
On trusting God even in dire circumstances, Corrie once said,"I remember one occasion when I was very discouraged. Everything around us (in the concentration camp) was dark, and there was darkness in my heart. I remember telling (my sister) Betsie that I thought God had forgotten us."
Betsie, who later died in that camp, disagreed, reminding Corrie of God's word: "For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him."
"There is an ocean of God's love available," said Corrie, "...plenty for everyone. May God grant you never to doubt that victorious love - whatever the circumstances."
Prayer: Dear Lord, I trust you. I feel confidence and hope knowing that you have positive plans for my life, and that, even in my darkest moments, you are there. Amen.
Reflection: What circumstances have caused you to doubt God? How much do you trust him today?
