Field Hospital Open in Ukraine

Samaritan's Purse opened our Emergency Field Hospital in Lviv and is receiving our first patients.

OUR TEAM IS WORKING TO SAVE LIVES AND RELIEVE SUFFERING IN UKRAINE

Field Hospital Open in Ukraine

Dear ‌Friend

As the deadly conflict in Ukraine escalates, our Emergency Field Hospital is open and treating patients. Our first patient was a woman named Marina (pictured above) from Malyn, a city west of Kyiv. She had injured her arm while escaping into a bomb shelter and suffered for nine days before arriving at our field hospital. She cried tears of relief when we told her we could help her.

Give to Ukraine Now

Our nearly 60-bed facility—airlifted via two flights of our DC-8 cargo plane and an additional 747 flight—has an ICU, two operating theaters with capacity for dozens of surgeries each day, and an emergency room that can handle 100 patients daily.

The governor of Lviv said, “When I saw the field hospital I felt like I had walked into a movie, but unfortunately this is Ukraine,” he said. “We thank Samaritan's Purse for coming here to help us. We pray that this ‘movie’ will be over soon.”

We also are operating a clinic at the Lviv train station that is serving as a triage center and stabilization point. The railway terminal is a major transit hub for tens of thousands of people fleeing the fighting across Ukraine.

These are desperate times. We haven't seen anything like this since the Second World War. The most important thing we can do is pray. All of Ukraine needs our prayers, and especially remember our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering. Please also pray for our teams as they work to bring help in Jesus' Name: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”(Psalm 46:1).

Sincerely,

Franklin Graham
President, Samaritan's Purse
