Make it a habit...

Make it a habit...
By Bobby Schuller, Hour of Power Pastor
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. "
-Matthew 6:33
Being so in a hurry is so harmful. You can't be kind. You can't listen when you're in a hurry. It's very difficult to make smart choices and be rational when you're in a hurry.
And if you're perpetually in a hurry, it's very easy to fall into a medical condition called anhedonia, which is the inability to experience pleasure because of your addiction to regular adrenaline, and your addiction to stress. Did you know that many of us are addicted to stress? That's a real thing. And that's not at all the life that God has called us to.
Don't be fooled, those of you who want to be successful in life, to think that being in a hurry will make you more successful. Winston Churchill would get up early every morning and he would sit in bed until 11 o'clock in the late morning reading the newspaper, reading books, journaling, instructing servants what to do, giving orders to his staff. He would sit in bed for hours thinking about what he would do in his day. Martin Luther said, "I have so much to do in a day, I have to pray three hours every morning."
What I have seen in great leaders and great achievers in life is no, they're not always in a hurry. In fact, they have given space for prayer and reflection to make right choices.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I will make it a habit to give more space in my day for prayer and reflection to make the right choices, to be in your will. Amen.
