Turning doubt into determination...

Turning doubt into determination...
"So Jesus said, 'Come.' And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, 'Lord, save me.' And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, 'Oh you of little faith. Why did you doubt?'"
-Matthew 14:29-31
Have you ever tried to do something extraordinary and, in the midst of your perceived success, lost your confidence, then your momentum, eventually only to fail? Has that failure made you afraid to try again?
Just as Peter sank in the waters near his Savior Jesus, fear can impede our progress in life even when we know the Lord is by our side.
Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of America's 32nd president, once said, "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do."
Prayer: Dear Lord, even in the areas where I have experienced failure in the past, I will take new risks knowing you are with me.When I am afraid, I will draw courage from you to turn my doubt into determination. Amen.
Reflection: What fear or doubt is holding you back from experiencing the fullness of Christ in you?
