Helping Tornado Survivors

Devastation in the Heartland

  Dear ‌Friend,

Violent storms barreled across the middle of the country this weekend leaving a trail of destruction. Parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and Oklahoma got hammered. Five people were killed, including an infant in Oklahoma, and scores were injured. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed or damaged and so many lives have been turned upside down.

Samaritan’s Purse has deployed North American Ministries teams and three Disaster Relief Units—trucks filled with equipment and supplies—to the Plains. We will be working in some of the hardest hit areas, helping homeowners around Minden, Iowa; Elkhorn, Nebraska; and Sulphur, Oklahoma. Volunteers will tarp roofs, saw trees, and assist people searching for precious household items. Alongside local churches and Billy Graham chaplains, our teams will share the hope found only in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Help the Hurting

You can learn more, give a gift, and sign up to volunteer through our website. Please join me in praying for those who have lost loved ones, those who are injured, and those whose homes are in shambles. Pray for our teams to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are hurting.

More storms are forecast from the Gulf Coast up through the Midwest this week. We are keeping a close eye on them to see how we might respond.

Sincerely,

Franklin Graham
President, Samaritan's Purse
