This weekend, as we enter the 4th Sunday in our Season of Creation, we encounter various "God Sightings", those moments when the Divine presence becomes real and we feel God working in our lives.  We are all on our own journey with Christ, it is a long trip so this is NOT the time to act like children!

Recognizing and Responding to God’s Presence in Our Lives

Siblings in Christ,

This 4^th Sunday in our Season of Creation, we encounter various "God sightings" – moments when the divine presence becomes tangible, real, or even overwhelming. These experiences offer us valuable insights into how to recognize and respond to God's work in our lives.

I. God's Presence in Our Communities (Numbers 11)

• The Burden of Leadership: Moses, overwhelmed by the people's demands, feels burdened by the weight of his responsibility.
• God's Provision: God responds by appointing 70 elders to share the load, demonstrating His presence and support.
• The Danger of Complaining: The people's grumbling and discontent reveal a lack of trust in God's provision.

II. God's Presence in Our Suffering (James 5)

• The Power of Prayer: James encourages believers to pray in times of sickness, recognizing God's healing power.
• The Importance of Anointing: The practice of anointing with oil symbolizes the presence of the Holy Spirit.
• The Community of Faith: James emphasizes the role of the church in supporting and caring for one another.

III. God's Presence in Our Relationships (Mark 9)

• The Danger of Exclusion: The disciples' desire to prevent others from casting out demons reveals their limited understanding of God's kingdom.
• The Power of Faith: Jesus emphasizes that even the smallest act of faith can be a powerful manifestation of God's presence.
• The Importance of Unity: The disciples' internal conflict highlights the need for unity and cooperation within the body of Christ.

These passages offer a rich tapestry of "God sightings," revealing the divine presence in our communities, suffering, and relationships.
