- Ans. Zimmer caught 6 games for NYP f the AA in 1886. He played in Cleveland from 1887 to 1899, for the Blues in 1887 & 1888 then for the Spiders from 1889 through 1898, the edge of their demise.
- #1 Zimmer was with Cleveland (American Association) in 1887 when he became the first catcher to play directly behind the batter on every play. Previously, catchers would move farther back of the plate with runners on base.
- #2 Nearly 100 players attended the first meeting in June 1900 & elected Zimmer. CHW player/manager Clark Griffith was later name vice president.
