Samaritan's Purse Responding After Deadly Flash Floods
Dear Friend,
Flash floods overwhelmed parts of central Texas early on Friday, July 4, claiming more than 90 lives, including dozens of children. A trail of destruction now scars low-lying areas of the Hill Country.
During a holiday weekend that was supposed to be filled with celebration, Texas families are now facing unimaginable loss. On Sunday, I joined Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem by phone from Alaska to read Scripture and pray for families who were gathered at a church in Texas awaiting word about their missing children and loved ones.
Samaritan's Purse disaster relief specialists are on the ground in Kerr County, the hardest hit area where most of the deaths occurred. Joined by Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains, we are working with local emergency management and church partners to see how we can best help these hurting communities. Volunteer teams will soon begin serving in Jesus' Name, helping homeowners with cleanup and mud-outs. Details will be released on spvolunteer.org once available.
GivePlease join me in praying for those who have lost loved ones and for the thousands of others affected by this tragedy. Search-and-rescue efforts remain underway. More rain is expected for the area. Keep our teams in your prayers as we respond and offer the hope and comfort only the Lord Jesus Christ can provide.
Sincerely,
Franklin Graham
President, Samaritan's Purse
