It is very tempting to chase after glory

It is very tempting to chase after glory.

We’re told that success means standing out, gaining influence, and making a name for ourselves.

Jesus calls us to something different. He calls us to something radical.

He calls us to live lives of quiet love, humble service, and gentle strength.

We see this throughout scriptures, including Matthew 21:5, which says, Say to Daughter Zion, See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey.

We also learn more in Matthew 5:16, Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Think about the humility of Jesus, who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing. (Philippians 2:6-7).

He washed the feet of His disciples, dined with outcasts, and chose a cross instead of a throne.

I repeat, he washed the feet of his disciples, dined with outcasts, and chose a cross instead of a throne. Jesus was teaching us how to live out our lives.
