"This is a test. This is only a test." So says the Emergency Broadcast System. The scriptures also tell us that what you are currently going through is a test, but a different kind of test. God has a design for the trials we're in: to grow us and make us more like Jesus. The Evil One has other plans for our trials: to deceive us, destroy us and tempt us to distrust God. This is what is at the heart of the last petition of Jesus' prayer, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the Evil One." Jesus gives us an entirely new way and life-giving way to pray into our problems. Let's see what he has to say about the movement from suffering to joy.
