Why Faithfulness Today Shapes Tomorrow
Have you ever wanted something with your whole being? Maybe it was getting into a certain school or making a team. Chances are you didn’t just sit around waiting for that dream to become a reality; you probably took active, thoughtful steps to get what you wanted. Why? You realized what you do today impacts tomorrow.
In this letter to Timothy, Paul laid out necessary characteristics of church leaders. They were to be respectful, faithful in everything, exercising self-control, and not slandering others, just to name a few. This is a weighty call, and answering it starts now while you are young.
The body of Christ is called to be a living example of Him, a daily reflection of the life He lived. But living that kind of life doesn’t just come overnight. The decisions you make today shape your future character and person. Now is the time to start cultivating the kind of Christ-honoring behavior that you are called to. If you seek to be more like Him now, you will find yourself better prepared for the future work He has called you to. Make the decision to honor Him with your character, actions, and decisions today, so you will be fit to serve Him in every day to come.
