Finding Peace in Jesus Christ

Marine Sergeant Austin Dickinson served as an aircraft mechanic in Afghanistan while also helping to evacuate fellow Marines wounded or killed in combat. When he returned stateside, he struggled with a brain injury, post-traumatic stress, and wondered why he had lived when so many other Marines did not.

“You wake up in the morning and you're like, ‘Why am I even here? Why bother fighting anymore?’” he said. In desperation, he even thought about taking his own life.

When Austin and his wife, Cass, arrived at Samaritan Lodge Alaska this June as part of Operation Heal Our Patriots, he was skeptical about Christianity. But as he began to understand God's love for him, amazing things started to happen…

Samaritan's Purse flies up to 11 military couples to Alaska each week during the Operation Heal Our Patriots annual season. During this focused time of Biblically based marriage enrichment, many of these men and women place their trust in Jesus Christ, are baptized, and recommit their marriages to each other and to the Lord.
