Dear Peter, Cathedral Giving Day is tomorrow! We’ll bring our community together to celebrate all things Cathedral with a special opportunity to support the project closest to your heart. We’re looking for 500 people to make a gift by midnight tomorrow. When you give, you can choose whether you want to help with earthquake repair, Great Organ restoration, upgrading the nave audio and broadcast system so no one misses a moment—or simply tell us you want your gift to go wherever it’s needed most. Thanks to a $50,000 match from some generous partners, your gift can go twice as far for the project you choose until those matching funds are exhausted, such as bringing the Great Organ back to life. | If a building can have a voice, then the Great Organ is the voice of the Cathedral building. Sadly, after 85 years of being played almost daily, parts of the organ are simply worn out. Almost a third of the instrument is no longer even functional. Like the repair and preservation work currently being done on the Cathedral building, the Great Organ restoration project aims to keep and refurbish as much of the original instrument as possible—the last major organ designed and constructed by famed organ builder Ernest M. Skinner, all the way back in 1938. At the same time, we’ll add features that make the organ function better and be easier to maintain for the future. |
Please join us to celebrate Giving Day. Make your gift now and choose the project you’d like to support—or tell us to use your gift where it’s most needed. You’ll strengthen the Cathedral so that our grandchildren will inherit this sacred space of inspiration and healing. Thank you! |
