Helping the Southeast Recover After Helene's Gut Punch
Dear Friend,
Deadly Hurricane Helene has left a 500-mile long trail of destruction from the Gulf Coast to the southern Appalachians. Parts of my hometown of Boone, North Carolina, and the entire western half of the state are in ruins. A major interstate is washed out, homes have been destroyed by landslides and floods, and trees are down everywhere.
Give NowCommunities in Florida and Georgia were also battered by this storm, including Valdosta, where I met with President Donald Trump on Monday. He thanked our team and said, “We've seen you at many different sites over the years, and you do a fantastic job!”
In all, Samaritan's Purse is working in five locations across four states in response to Helene's devastation. We are comforting homeowners, sharing God's love, and also cutting downed trees, mudding out homes, and tarping roofs.
Sign Up to VolunteerIn western North Carolina, we've also set up a 20-bed Emergency Field Hospital and two additional medical units. Samaritan's Purse has even used one of our helicopters to deliver food and water to a community totally isolated by floodwaters.
This is one of the most destructive storms I've ever seen. Please pray for those whose homes and businesses have been damaged or destroyed. We want people to know God cares and has not forgotten them.
The Lord tells us, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you” (Isaiah 43:2).
Sincerely,
Franklin Graham
President, Samaritan's Purse
