Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent: a time of fasting, prayer, self-examination and preparation for the Easter Feast. Join us for a service of Holy Eucharist that includes the imposition of ashes, an ancient sign of repentance that serves as a reminder of our mortality. The 12 pm service features contemporary music and the 7 pm service features traditional music. Incense is used at both services. Passes are not required. All are invited to the Congregation’s Creation Care meeting as it welcomes Karenna Gore for a conversation on a host of current issues, political and spiritual, facing the environment and our stewardship of God’s creation. Ms. Gore is the founder and executive director of the Center for Earth Ethics and visiting professor of practice of earth ethics at Union Theological Seminary in New York. Karenna formed CEE in 2015 to address the moral and spiritual dimensions of the climate crisis. You’re invited to join the Cathedral as we make our way from Ash Wednesday through Holy Week to the celebration of Christ’s glorious Resurrection on Easter Due to capacity limits, reserved passes are required for the Easter Sunday Festival Holy Eucharist services at 8 am and 11:15 am.
