Your Comfort, Your Choice |

Calendars are a mixed blessing. Yes, they’re essential. We absolutely need them to track our schedules. If you maintain a busy life – professionally and personally –a calendar is non-negotiable. Therein lies the quandary. Ever have times where you look at your calendar … and there are no blanks? No free time? No openings to breathe, to relax, to chill? Seems like most of us face more and more demands, and less time to meet them. We encounter ever-growing pressure to perform professionally, and still keep it all together at home. The stress can leave one feeling overwhelmed and drained. Our society defines “go, go, go.” Yet, studies show that people feel more isolated and lonelier than ever. Our collective mental health has deteriorated. Our spiritual health is lacking (to say the least). Our physical health … seriously? It’s a joke, as obesity and chronic illnesses hit record levels. Truth is, we all need some tender loving care (TLC). Everyone has their own salve. It might be enjoying a favorite activity, or carving out a few hours of peace and quiet. Or, spending time with a favorite person (or another creature). Pets are great stress relievers. Mishmar, our Great Dane puppy, has been a blessing. She entertains all of us, while quietly teaching my kids valuable lessons about caring for others. Gotta be honest, though. She pales in comparison to Tillman, our bearded dragon. What? A lizard?
Tillman is an amazingly sweet, affectionate creature. You might not expect this from a reptile. Truth is, I didn’t either. Appreciating it has been an enlightening experience. Tillman’s cage sits six inches from my desk, in our home’s lower level. He stares at me constantly. Usually he sits in his hammock, or rests on a rock. Sometimes he dances around (no lie), wanting to come out and play. When my stress level ramps up, I look back at Tillman. He keeps staring. We connect. I can’t speak for him, but it’s sure calming for me. This cold-blooded creature is incredibly warm. He loves snuggling. He starts on my leg as I lie on the couch, and slowly crawls up. Eventually he tucks his head under my chin. Soon he’s asleep. |
|
I’m reminded that, more than anything else, he just wants to be with me. When you’re feeling alone, stressed, unsure, fearful of mistakes you might (or might not) have made … this is a very reassuring feeling. To the world, you’re just one person (or creature); to one creature (or person), you might be the world. Is there someone out there trying to get your love and attention? If you haven’t already, show them you care. God brought them into your life for a purpose. Respond kindly. Fulfil their purpose. Chances are, your calendar will find a way to accommodate the effort. |

“That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” – Genesis 2:24 Marriage is a blessing … but no one ever said it’s easy. A successful marriage requires compromise, sharing and, frankly, a willingness to work at it.
Strong marriages, though, are the bedrock of Christian families and society. If things are good at home, a person can take almost anything that life throws at them. If not … well, the millstone of domestic stress can drag everything else down.
C-Suite for Christ, with its mission to “Cover the World in Christ,” takes healthy marriages very seriously. If we expect business executives to be bold and unapologetic for Jesus, promoting domestic bliss is one way to avoid distractions!
A new marriage initiative, the Genesis 2:24 Ministry, aims to strengthen this most sacred of relationships. Available to members of C-Suite for Christ, this program employs a Biblically-centered curriculum to guide couples.
You’re invited to a free April 29 webinar to learn more!
Mike and Annie Hernandez, longtime marriage ministry leaders at Victory Church in Atlanta, will explain how to transform your marriage into one of true holy matrimony. This is a powerful, game-changing formula for marriages of all durations. Why not invest 45 minutes in a webinar that could fortify your partnership forever?
Believe it or not, divorce rates in America have dropped slightly in recent years. We should work tirelessly to keep the trend going.
