Hello All,
This is a request for prayers of peace and healing for three friends: Chris, John and Tim.
Chris is scheduled for heart surgery this week. Having spent most of the past ten weeks in the hospital He will have work done on a heart valve without opening the chest. That is an answer to prayer itself as it seems almost incomprehensible. The other miracle is he will go home within 24 hours of the procedure, also hard to believe. Pray the procedure goes well and correct the problem that has kept Chruis bedridden for much of the past three months, pray then for good rehab that his usual level of high fitness returns.
John is paying the price for too much time in the sun. But time in the sun is the typical fate of career Marine Corps officers who lead Infantry units. John spent more time than most, with assignments aboard ship and he took the time while afloat to maintain his tan. He now has several skin cancers that require serious surgery. He related that one site was troublesome because it had shed some cells that lodged in a lymph node under his arm. Pray that the surgeons are successful in excising all harmful cells. He did not mention it, but this requires the MOHS technique. Some of you all have probably experienced this. The process requires a great deal of time. The doc removes what he thinks is enough of the site to capture all cancerous cells. To verify this the doc will examine what he has removed to be certain that any offending cells are not present along the edges of the tissue removed. This requires time for the procedure and then a 2 hour wait to determine if you go home or the doc keeps cutting. Pray for skilled physicians and that John is patient and resolute with numerous visits for care.
Tim also has cancer, but candidly I am unable to remember where other than it is within his belly. He has recently begun an infusion program. His cancer will be treated with a drug that is slowly dripped into the body. That is necessary to avoid a host of side effects; from allergic reactions to nausea. The clinic he attends sees about 450 patients a day. Many of those are receiving the same treatment as Tim but with different drugs geared toward specific forms of cancer. Pray that the docs have made the correct diagnosis, the medicine is effective and Tim tolerates the medication. Pray also for healing and patience. Pray also for the Holy Spirit's gift of understanding.
Pray also for Sandra who has inoperable cancer. Until recently she has been pain free. However in the past couple of weeks she told me she did have to resort to pain meds for relief. Pray that she and her husband Doug are gentle with each other. The stress of this illness may cause them to experience emotional bouts not normally present in their marriage. Only once in the past eleven years have I seen them apart. Pray that both of them have patience and understanding, Pray they are able to comfort each other. Pray the pain is manageable. But most importantly pray for His peace.
Many of you respond to these requests. Thank You!! Please make a note if you would like me to forward your comments to them.
Love, hank
