Into All the World

Jesus’ call to “go into all the world” conjures images of visiting distant countries and exotic cultures—it can make us wonder if we should quit school and travel the world for Jesus. While some people are called to that life, not all of us were made to be missionaries in other countries. But we are all called to share Christ’s message with the people in our lives. He has crafted us for just this time, in just this place. All we need to do is say yes and go.

Even if we stay in one place, we shouldn’t live sedentary lives. There’s always something to be done in your corner of creation—always someone to tell. Jesus is the answer to every human’s longings, but some people don’t know His name. We are blessed with the knowledge of Christ and a relationship with Him, so it is our responsibility, actually our privilege, to share Jesus wherever we go. None of us knows how much time we have on earth, or how long we’ll be where we are. You might only have a limited amount of time to share with those in your current sphere. That’s why this command is so urgent—but don’t let it overwhelm you. Trust Christ to give you the words to say, the courage to say them, and the discernment to know who needs them.
