Glimpses of Glory

Glimpses of Glory Glory is a complex concept. We believe we catch a glimpse of it every day as athletes accomplish feats beyond comprehension or scientists discover uncharted territory. We simply want to be remembered. Our nature is to seek glory. However, we are here for one exceedingly important purpose: giving glory back where it belongs—to God. Every glorious thing we celebrate is but a glimmer of His greater glory. Cephas, or Peter, was a disciple, an apostle, and a martyr for Christ. Paul was an apostle who was shipwrecked, beaten, and martyred for Christ’s name. These men had plenty of reasons to be proud of what they’d achieved. Yet, they understood that Christ-followers do not boast in our human accomplishments, but we lay our successes along with our sufferings at the feet of Christ. We are not here to take the praise, but to point each other toward Jesus, so we may see God’s greater, all-encompassing glory. If we are Christ’s, then we are God’s, and if we are God’s, all things are ours. Get rid of boasting and self-importance, and instead seek God’s glory. That’s where the real glory is.
