Pray for the Nations

Pray for the Nations Imagine being in prison. You’ve lost your freedom and many human comforts. Do you wallow in self-pity? Isolate yourself? Count the days to liberty? Paul, the author of Colossians, chose not to take those routes. Rather, he invested in the prisoners around him, choosing to remain faithful to his call, just as his ancestors were commanded to do many years earlier (Jeremiah 29:4–7). Paul was willing to do anything to share the gospel: suffer pain, be imprisoned and beaten, and eventually lose his life. Even in our modern world, many Christians undergo adversities similar to Paul’s for the sake of the gospel. For those who live in safety, it is easy to forget the plight of our fellow brothers and sisters. We are called to pray every day for the gospel to be spread among the nations. Pray for your fellow Christians undergoing persecution. Research unreached nations and pray that the gospel is spread within them. Find ways to help and support God’s work in those areas. Then thank God for His provision for His people, and be inspired by your fellow Christians to spread the gospel in your own environment.
