Selfless Leadership

Selfless Leadership Christian leadership is a selfless pursuit. Contrary to the paradigm given by the world, the Christian leader seeks to advance not his or her own name, but Christ’s. That leader is motivated not just by personally devised convictions, but by God’s eternal principles. Paul gave special attention to the character of these leaders in order to preserve the inner strength of the church and its ability to witness to the world. Paul called leaders to be sincere, to exercise self-control, and to lead upright lives. Leaders in the church are entrusted with the responsibility of teaching and keeping the deep truths of the faith. They must be found to be trustworthy, because this is no small task. A leader’s strength must be rooted in Christ, and not fame or personal abilities. Above all, a biblical leader is motivated by a deep desire to advance God’s kingdom by making Jesus’ name known. How can you become a strong leader? How can you foster authentic community, something the world is desperately looking for? Instead of focusing on our own reputations, let’s focus on advancing Christ’s mission.
