Stewarding Our Gifts

Stewarding Our Gifts Learning to use our spiritual gifts is a lifetime journey. Once we think we have a handle on them, we find ourselves discovering something new. There are, of course, many spiritual gifts, but in today’s passage, Peter focused on two categories as examples: speaking gifts and serving gifts. Those of us with speaking gifts are to speak of God’s truth with reverence, not using our gift as a megaphone for our own ideas, but as an instrument to carry the gospel. Those of us with gifts of serving are to serve wholeheartedly, drawing strength from the Lord, not ourselves, so that God is praised through the strength Jesus provides us. In all things, we are to use our gifts to serve the church and to praise Jesus. Your gifts, whether serving or speaking, or something completely different, are yours to steward and leverage wisely. These gifts are not meant to earn us acceptance or praise in the eyes of our peers, but for God’s glory and for your fellow believers. Today, reflect on what kind of gifts you have. Where does your strength come from? How are you using your gifts?
