Supernatural Kindness
Supernatural Kindness
Throughout his first letter, Peter addresses how
church members should relate to others. He instructs
us in relating to authorities, masters, husbands, wives,
and finally, other members of the church.
In relating to other Christians, Peter isn’t telling us
to do x, y, and z. He’s calling us first and foremost
to be a kind of people. On our own, we can’t fulfill
all of the characteristics in today’s scripture. But
because we have experienced a “new birth” by God’s
mercy (1 Peter 1:3), we have access to this inner
transformation.
This new birth comes from God’s living Word—“a
life conceived by God himself!” (1 Peter 1:23 THE
MESSAGE)—giving us complete access to Him. It
enables us to share His mind-set, respond with
sensitivity, view each other as family, and be humble
in our dependence on Him. Because of this inner
transformation, there will be a spiritual unity in the
church and a transformation of the way we act. So in
all your interactions today, be conscious of the inner
transformation Christ has worked in you. He enables
you to respond in kindness, no matter what comes
your way.
