Faith, Hope, and Love…
Faith, Hope, and Love…
When Evans sat down beside me that day in Kenya, he introduced himself with a question, “Would you like to hear my memory verse?” I responded, “Of course!”
He stood up and proudly said, “1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV): ‘And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.’”
When he sat down, he said, “Where have you seen it... Faith, hope and love... In Africa?”
When Evans asked me, “Where have you seen it?” he wasn’t asking theoretically. He wanted evidence. Faith. Hope. Love. Not as ideas—but as living reality.
These are not survival tools. Faith, hope, and love are transformation markers.
Faith trusts God beyond what can be controlled.
Hope looks forward even when circumstances are hard.
Love chooses generosity when scarcity says to protect yourself.
Evans lived these out every single day. I had seen them all in him! His life testified that survival doesn’t have to define us. There is another way to live.
As we move from survival to transformation, faith steadies us, hope lifts us, and love leads us forward. Love becomes the greatest because it reflects the very heart of God.
This is the life God invites us into—not merely getting by, but living life to the full.
Jesus changed my life through an unlikely friendship. A bond was formed between a survival-mode pastor and a pint-sized ambassador of Jesus. I am forever grateful!
Which of these—faith, hope, or love—is God growing in you today? Where have you seen the evidence, and have you paused for a moment to say “Thank you” to the God who is meeting all of your needs?
Let’s pray together...
Holy Spirit, shape my life around faith, hope, and love. Teach me to live transformed, not merely surviving. Thank you for all that Evans has taught us this week. We are grateful!
You are a miracle!
