The Source of Love

The Source of Love What is the source of all love in the universe? Today’s passage teaches us that love is from God. And it’s contagious—it moves from Him to us. If we have been born of God and know God, then love belongs at the heart of how we treat each other. But if we don’t love one another, then how can we say that we know God? Love is the indispensable qualification for anyone who claims to follow Jesus. But so much can get in the way. What prevents you from living a life of love? Is it pride, self-centeredness, busyness, or insecurity? Who are the people in your life who are the most difficult to love? Take a minute to confess these things to the Lord. When the truth of the gospel fills our hearts, there is no one we can’t love. Let’s turn to Jesus, our example and source of strength for loving others. Remember He’s the one who said, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34). If that seems like a tall order . . . well, it is.
