What’s driving you right now?

What’s driving you right now? What’s driving you right now? Or, let me put it another way: What are you allowing to drive you? It’s an important question we rarely—maybe never—ask ourselves. At the end of last year, I suddenly found myself facing so many (too many, from my perspective) big decisions. And even though I live with God day after day, I suddenly couldn’t hear His voice anymore. And that honestly scared me. But do you know what happened here? Even when we live with God day after day, it’s possible that we give fear more power. And when I started analyzing the words I was speaking out loud, I realized that during that time I said things like, “This isn’t going to end well,” more often than, “I will experience God’s intervention.” I said, “I can’t hear God,” more often than I actually paused to truly listen. 😬 And, I had distanced myself from God. I was still having my quiet time. I was still praying, but I was distant. But if you have time to listen to your fears, then you also have time to let God touch you again. You see, what drives you determines where you’re going, and whoever you give more power to decides who leads you. So if, despite your “actual” faith, fear is still loudly calling out, “Listen to me! Listen to me!” then you’re in a season where God wants to grow your faith. Beyond the verse, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will do this.” (Psalm 37:5, NIV) …and toward this sincere prayer: “Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; May your good Spirit Lead me on level ground.” (Psalm 143:10, NIV) Pray these words and make this decision: I don’t want to be led by what’s going on around me, but by You alone. Amen. You are a miracle! Déborah Rosenkranz
