Reason for Hope Although our world is a place of pain, fear, and suffering, Jesus gives us a reason to hope. Because the wounds of this world run deep, Peter told us to approach the topic of hope with “gentleness and respect.” We shouldn’t discount suffering; instead, we should tell the good news of hope of a forever with Christ with no pain, fear, suffering, or sin—a hope available to everyone. As we spread the gospel to the ends of the earth, people will wonder why we do what we do, and they might even accuse us of impure motives. As Christians, our goal is to show them the truth of the gospel and to continue living our lives in a such way that accusations cannot hold water. When we act with gentleness, respect, and a clear conscience, even our enemies can recognize that this great hope is valid. Let’s strive to keep the values we say we have in line with the values we actually practice, so the world’s criticisms will fall flat. How can you infuse your actions with the hope you have today?
