Through Faith

Through Faith This morning, I woke up early and went for a walk. I spent some time with Jesus, praying, worshipping, and reflecting. I even brought communion along with me. Sitting on a park bench, I thanked Jesus for His salvation and received the bread and the cup with a sincerely grateful heart. This thought struck me: Grace is the offer. Faith is the response. The Bible says, “Though you have not seen him, you love him … and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:8–9, NIV) Faith isn’t just an intellectual agreement. It’s not just believing certain facts about Jesus. It’s trust. It’s leaning your full weight onto Him and believing He can hold you. I can sincerely believe I could play in the NBA, but sincerity doesn’t make it true. Faith isn’t about how hard I believe—it’s about who I’m believing in. To have faith is to say, “Jesus, I trust You. I trust that You are who You said You are. I trust that You did what You said You did for me. I trust that Your death and resurrection are enough for me.” Romans 10:9–10 is a promise, a guarantee, and a statement of faith. “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9–10, NIV). Faith is personal. It’s relational. It’s surrender. Today’s miracle is that when you believe in God—it works, all the way to eternity! Jesus, I place my trust in You. Strengthen my faith where it is weak. Help me to rely on You completely—not on my feelings, not on my performance, but on Your finished work. Fill me with the joy that comes from trusting You. Amen. You are a miracle! Grant Fishbook
