A Prayer for Schedule Overload

A Prayer for Schedule Overload Some of us have commitment issues, but probably not in the way you might think. We OVER-COMMIT! Like those of us who say, “Yes” before we stop to think about whatever it is we were just asked. And then later…we regret saying yes, and begin to think of creative ways we can back out of whatever it was we just said yes to. We think to ourselves: “I just can’t say no.” And then some of us have lives that require lots of commitments. Like teachers during conference week who teach all day, and then have a load of parent-teacher conferences all afternoon and evening (we see you) Or the pastor like…every Sunday. Or the boss with a group of direct reports who need one-on-one time… Or the students balancing work with classes. Or the parents balancing their own lives with school, doctors' appointments, soccer practice, and piano recitals… And then there are those of us who struggle with overcommitment AND are in seasons that have lots of meetings and obligations. We look at the week ahead on Sunday night before work starts, and we feel a sense of dread. “Geesh, how will I make it through this week?!” Well friends! If we’re honest, our team is there with you—often. So, we wrote a prayer for all of us schedule-overloaded-people who long for margin and a few minutes to pee. Join us in taking a much needed moment…
