That’s why God is doing this right now...

That’s why God is doing this right now... Imagine your kitchen after an evening with friends: there are still half-empty pots on the stove, and dishes are piled up in and around the sink. Open ingredients and spices are scattered everywhere, and the dish towels are no longer clean. 👩‍🍳🥘🍳 Before you can even do anything new—or start cooking again—the whole space first needs to be sorted and cleaned up. Because new things need space. Order. Cleanliness. And suddenly, this picture becomes more than just an everyday scene. It holds up a mirror to us. Why are we often so impatient when it comes to the new things we expect from God? Why do we long for change, breakthrough, new perspectives—but don’t want God to first deal with the “messy corners” of our lives? Could it be that God is currently at work in your life, piece by piece, plate by plate, pot by pot, cleaning things up? That He is reordering the old, touching wounds, exposing patterns you might rather leave untouched? That He is putting things away, throwing things out that you wanted to keep, even though they are already expired? No, that’s not fun. Cleaning up has never been pleasant. And deep down, we often hope someone will jump in and say: “I’ll take care of it for you.” And yet we all know that when the kitchen is clean again, cooking becomes joyful again. Order is created in which life can flourish. Maybe your life right now feels less like a “new beginning” and more like doing the dishes. More like cleaning up than stepping forward. Then hold on to this: God is not cleaning up to take something away from you. He is cleaning up to make space for what is coming. Cleaning up TODAY means new beginnings TOMORROW. Let us therefore pray intentionally: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10 ESV) You are a miracle! Déborah Rosenkranz
